Overview
DSA worked alongside Nils Feldmann Architects, with support from the Design : Midlands Design Review Panel, to
ultimately gain consent for an isolated dwelling in Northamptonshire under Paragraph 80e (now 84e) of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF).
The new dwelling, which finished construction in 2026, provides a home for a multi-generational farming family with familial connections to Finland. The home is named for the fieldfare, a winter visitor which makes an annual migration
from Finland to Northamptonshire. The landscape strategy for ‘setting’ the dwelling has been informed by a ‘Finnish spirit’, heralding a simple, honest and respectful approach and an integration of the home, the forest and the field.
The landscape proposals are still in process, due to be completed in 2026.
