Our People
David Singleton CMLI

I set up DSA Environment & Design in 2005 to take advantage of my environmental science background. This has enabled me to focus my practice on my particular interest of bringing people and landscape together to make places. I believe that the creation of high quality, well-managed blue-green infrastructure is an effective way to do this. My intention is to be always at the leading edge of innovative work, and especially to be at the forefront of sustainable development.
I teach in the School of Architecture at Nottingham Trent University. I am a member of the Design Midlands Design Review Panel and past chair of the Landscape Institute East Midlands branch. I am an advisor to CIRIA on Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS) and Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) and worked on the CIRIA SuDS Manual. I am an author of Homes England’s ‘Building for a Healthy Life’ design guidance. I have given talks on the planning, design and management of SuDS/WSUD in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Australia, China and most recently Poland.
DSA projects have picked up design awards including from Building Better Healthcare, RICS, LABC, ProCon and Design in Mental Health. Forest Way (SEN) School, Leicestershire, won the ‘Outstanding New or Refurbished Primary School’ national award in the Times Education Supplement. Numerous projects are CIRIA susdrain case studies.
